About

Hello Moms! My name is Kris and I am the founder of LosePostPregnancyWeight.com.

I have been interested in diet and nutrition since as far back as I can remember. I think it was around age 8 that I started exercising to my mom’s Jane Fonda VHS tapes in our living room. (If you don’t know who Jane Fonda is or what VHS tapes are, just don’t tell me because I’ll feel old!)

Fast forward several years, and like you, I had a child. My daughter was born. Now, the day I read my pregnancy test was also the day I quit smoking. My mentality was that I was eating for two so I could eat more. But also, I was eating more due to quitting smoking cold turkey.

I gained 60 pounds with that pregnancy. My daughter’s weight at birth was only 7 lb. 1 oz. So, a lot of unnecessary weight was gained. Thankfully, what helped me out a bit was the fact that I had worked out throughout my entire pregnancy. In fact, I remember walking on the treadmill at the gym on my due date (she ended up being four days late).

Once I was officially given the green light by my doctor to start working out again, I did immediately. I also ate healthy, which was serving as double duty for my daughter, as I breastfed her. The weight came off slowly.

By the time I was pregnant with my second daughter, a little over two years later, I was ten pounds away from my goal weight. Not horrible, but also not where I wanted to be.

I did things differently with my second pregnancy. I ate healthier, but unfortunately couldn’t workout a lot due to a pinched nerve in my back. I don’t know if it was the way she was situated in there, but it would be too painful to workout and I didn’t want to make it worse.

I gained 45 pounds with that pregnancy. My daughter only weighed 7 lb. My weight gain not terrible, but not ideal for me either. However, after I had her, I decided to try Weight Watchers out. I also exercised, as usual, once my doctor gave me the ‘go ahead’.

I lost about 17 pounds in my first week. Now, a lot of that was likely water weight, but it was still a victory. Normally though, that amount of weight loss in only a week is not good for you!

Weight Watchers ended up being very successful for me. I lost all of my second pregnancy weight, plus the extra 10 pounds from my first pregnancy! I was actually in the best shape of my life at that point! It was quite shocking to me.

Fast forward again to now. I am now in my 40’s. My daughters are 16 and 18 years old. So, it’s been awhile since my pregnancy weight struggles. But when I hit my 30’s, it got harder because of that darn declining metabolism. So, I tried harder. I ate healthier and healthier as time went on. I did more and more research about what to eat and what to avoid. I also maintained my exercise regime.

Then I hit my 40’s. Now my metabolism is even more stubborn. However, because of all the research and learning I’ve done over the years, I am able to maintain weight, but also lose weight when I want to. I would like to help other moms be able to do the same.

I actually started LosePostPregnancyWeight.com many years ago, but due to being a busy mom with a full-time job, I just couldn’t maintain it. Now that my kids are more independent, I have decided to delve back into my passion with resurrecting this website.

I would love to welcome all new moms, not-so-new moms, or any women in general that are interested in weight loss, nutrition and/or just being a healthier you!
